Mulberry River, Arkansas
5 Days/4 Nights
Vacation and Education! All in one adventure package!
This course is mixture of two of our courses, The Survival Standard and Scout Survival, except we do it while traveling on a scenic river, and the skills are more specialized and geared towards river based survival. You will learn the basics of shelter, water, fire making, wild plants, advanced fishing tactics and river based food procurement while living out of a canoe/kayak for 5 days. Some of the food you eat will be from what you catch and the rest will be supplemented with dry goods you bring with you. The idea is to create a mixture of living off the river much like we would do in our Scout Survival program while combining the basic skills learned in the survival standard. We want this to be difficult and enjoyable at the same time to combine real adventure with a high level of learning.
We will traveling on one of the most scenic rivers in Arkansas and camping out each night next to the river under the stars. You’ll be learning new survival skills on the river bank each day, while also fishing and living off the river. Adventure and education all rolled into one course, that will be challenging and exciting for people of all skill levels.
Who is this class for?
Anyone can attend this course and no prior training or SIGMA 3 classes required. If you just want some river based adventure, then this course is for you.
How difficult is this program physically?
If you can row a boat everyday and paddle down a river, then you can handle this course. Expect to cover 5-10 miles per day.
Do I need a canoe?
Canoes and paddles are provided by SIGMA 3, but if you have a suitable kayak with sufficient storage capacity for gear, then you’re welcome to use that as well. Complete list of items required is listed in drop down menu at bottom of page.

If you don’t plan to attend we need to know well in advance!!!! Your credit is good for 3 years for any course that we offer, but you can only transfer your credit to a future Waterborne survival class, if there are slots available for that future date. This course has a finite amount of spots available. Refunds are available with 50% charge for cancellation but must be given notice a month in advance. Either way, your money is good for future programs assuming you maintain your credit. We really don’t want cancellations for this specific course because of the pre-planning required for it, prepaid instructors attending, and limited availability.
